The forthcoming album -- entirely produced by Akon (aside from the Eminem-produced first singe) -- features guest appearances by Akon's artist T. Pain, Snoop Dogg and Styles P.
Konvicted follows up the multi-platinum success of his debut album Trouble, which featured the hit singles, "Locked Up" and "Lonely." Both tracks spent numerous weeks on Billboard's singles charts, but "Locked Up" enjoyed Top 5 status throughout the world.
In addition to solo success, Akon has also established himself as the premiere producer and songwriter over the past couple years, producing and writing hits for the likes of Young Jeezy, Elton John, R. Kelly, Gwen Stefani, Beenie Man and T. Pain, among others.
The singer's business resume isn't that far off either. He's already put out a multi-platinum artist with T. Pain, and has recently secured a label deal through Interscope Records for his own Konlive Records imprint, which is home to a stable of acts including Chili from super girl group, TLC. The first on Konlive is due early 2007.
Other ventures include a diamond supply and mining company called Aliaune that supplies diamonds to dealers across the world, a movie project based on his own inspirational story and a clothing line.
Akon's sophomore release, Konvicted, is slated to drop November 21.
