News: Busta Drops Crack Before The Bang
Welcome to New Crack City. An inside out, Flipmode version of NYC, where Busta Rhymes thrives as its supervillian, accompanied by producer-in-crime, Clinton Sparks, and a gang of henchmen: Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Papoose, Spliff Star, and Labba, among others.
The title-track, concocted in the lab by mad scientist Sparks -- as is almost the entire tape -- provides a lurid, almost carnivalesque soundscape for evil genius Busta, who foils enemy plots with his flow: "The way I murder sh-- and irritate/ and hurt your click, disintegrate/ you faggots -- wait I'll still make you/ participate, you maggots/ Make you close your shop and switch your gate/ control your block and strip your cake/ from your hustle, I make you have/ to go and try to situate..."
On "Survival," Busta sinks his teeth into the meaty beat, chews it up, and spits out lyrics like: "If you nice and if you got bite my n---- then show me/ 'cause there's no duplicating the greatness unless you clone me."
Other highlights include the swanky "Flipmode Bitch," snake-charming "Whenever We Walk In," tiptoe piano keys on "Look Who," and lyrical destruction laid down on "Followers."
This mixtape is a problem; a threatening preview of what's to come when the Leader of the New School reveals his master plan: The Big Bang. www.ballerstatus.net
