News: Los Angeles Rapper Defari Preps Third Solo Album

Los Angeles Rapper Defari Preps Third Solo Album
Los Angeles veteran and Likwit crew affiliate, Defari, is working on the release of his third solo album, Street Music, which hits stores this August.

After leaving the now defunct Tommy Boy label, Defari linked up with indie label ABB Records, the same label that released his first 12" single, "Bionic" in 1997.

The new album's first single is the Alchemist produced track "Make My Own," featuring Dilated Peoples emcee/ producer Evidence. It is off to a great start receiving plenty on spins across Southern Cali radio. A video for the single is already in production.

Defari took the advice of his fans when recording Street Music. According to the rapper, his fans kept telling him to go back to the Defari from his first album. So, that's what he did.

"I took the advice of my fans, and they told me my best effort was Focused Daily," said Defari of conversations that led to Street Music. "So, I wanted to take it back to Focused Daily and turn it up times 20. That's what Street Music is about. That's where hip-hop began. That's what I am, a hip-hop artist, and that's what I'm giving them, a straight bang-out."

Production for Street Music includes the likes of Alchemist, Evidence of Dilated Peoples, E-Swift and Mike City to name a few. Dilated Peoples, J Ro (Tha Alkaholiks) and B Real (Cypress Hill) are among the guest appearances on the album.

The rapper also plans to hit the road very soon in support of the new, but no dates have been confirmed as of yet.

Last year, Defari teamed up with Dilated Peoples' DJ Babu to release Likwit Junkies, an 18 track offering featuring Defari on the mic and Babu on the boards.

Street Music is slated for release August 8.
