News: Million Dollar Case Against Ashanti Dropped
R&B singer Ashanti testified Sept. 18 in court, claiming she never cheated record producer Genard Parker out of millions. According to the Daily News, Ashanti Douglas, 25, claims Parker and his TEAM Entertainment failed to get her a major recording contract at 16, which is the reason they split. Parker, on the other hand, claims the singer from Glen Cove, L.I. owes him more than $2 million from her first three platinum records.
"I wanted to be a singer," Ashanti was quoted saying, "and the situation that we were currently in I wasn't able to do so, so we were trying to be released."
Over the past four years Ashanti's sold more than 10 mllion albums under rap mogul Irving "Irv Gotti" Lorenzo's record label, Murder Inc., and starred in the teen flick John Tucker Must Die.
Singer Ashanti may not have scored big with her lastest single, but she did in court.
Genard Parker, the record producer who accused Ashanti of cheating him out of 2.3 million dollars in royalties, dropped his case yesterday after Ashanti agreed to countersuit, reported the Daily News.
According to reports, both sides said there was no money involved.
