News: Old Dirty Bastard's Last Album To Hit Stores In November
Damon Dash Music Group announced the release of the last studio album from Wu Tang Clan member and solo artist Ol' Dirty Bastard.
ODB (born Russell Tyrone Jones) begun working on A Son Unique in 2004 but died because of an accidental overdose while recording the album.
'A Son Unique' will hit stores on November 7th, 2006. The release commemorates the anniversary of Ol' Dirty Bastard's death, which occurred on November 13th, 2004.
The album features a stellar lineup of guests: Macy Gray, Missy Elliott, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Method Man, Fame from M.O.P., N.O.R.E., Pharrell, and more.
As one of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan and solo artist, ODB has sold over 7 million albums and recorded some of the most influential hip-hop of the '90s.
Ol' Dirty Bastard (aka ODB aka Osirus aka Joe Bananas aka Dirt McGirt, Dirt Dog, aka Unique Ason and aka Big Baby Jesus) became one of hip-hop's most beloved and controversial figures. His wildly erratic antics made him a fan favorite the world over and also a reluctant superstar whose life was cut short just as he began to reach new creative heights.
Although ODB released stellar albums like Wu-Tang's pioneering debut Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) and his 1999 solo album, Nigga Please, which spawned "Got Your Money," much of ODB's career has been overshadowed by his run-ins with the law.
In 2003 after being released from prison, ODB signed with Damon Dash's Roc-a-Fella Records. Work on 'A Son Unique' began seriously in 2004 with The RZA to handle the production.
This often-delayed release will finally see its date - just like ODB would've wanted it.
