News: Sizzla Preps New Album

Sizzla Preps New Album
Dancehall legend, Sizzla, is preparing a new album under the Damon Dash Music Group (DDMG), entitled The Overstanding.

The new album is a 15 track offering, featuring one guest appearance by Busta Rhymes. The rest of the album is all Sizzla.

Sizzla emerged during the latter half of the 90's and quickly became one of the key artists of the modern dancehall movement. Along with others like Buju Banton and Capleton, he helped lead the dancehall genre back to the musical and spiritual influence of the roots of reggae, favoring organic productions and heavily Rastafarian subject matter.

The dancehall artist enjoyed his first successful album in 1997 with the release of Praise Ya Jah, which was considered one of the top modern dancehall albums of its time.

Sizzla continued to release a slew of success albums including Be I Strong in 1999, the spiritually driven, hip-hop influenced Bobo Ashanti in 2001, and Da Real Thing in 2002, where he concentrated on softer, mellower, more romantic material.

With a catalogue of over 40 albums to his credit, Sizzla remains one of the most -- if not the most -- widely respected figures in all of dancehall reggae.

The Overstanding is slated for release October 3.

The final tracklist is as follows:

"The Overstanding"
"Just One Of Those Days"
"Break Free"
"Black Woman & Child"
"Cost Of Living"
"Solid As A Rock"
"I've Been Watching"
"I Love You Baby"
"Thank You For Loving Me"
"Pay To Learn"
"Give Me A Try"
"Smoke Marijuana"
"Thank You Mama"
Beautiful Day"
"Rebel Music" ft. Busta Rhymes
