News: Three 6 Mafia Sued In Fight
Oscar-winning Memphis rappers Three 6 Mafia are being sued by a fan who claims he was beaten at one of the rap group's August 2003 concerts.
The members could land in a Pittsburgh courtroom soon to be deposed in the suit filed by Ramone Williams, a then-19-year-old fan who says he was thrown to the floor, hit with a chair, stomped on and kicked in the face at the gig. He is suing them for inciting the audience during their performance and for failing to end the violence once it started. Three 6's lawyer told that clients deny Williams' allegations.
Oscar-winning rap group Three 6 Mafia is being sued for allegedly inciting a Pittsburgh nightclub fight that seriously injured alleged victim Ramone Williams. Williams claims two associates of Three Six assaulted him during the performance of their song "Let's Start A Riot" at the Rock Jungle Night Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
Williams, who reportedly entered the club despite being underage, said that he was thrown to the floor, stomped, kicked in the face and hit with a chair leaving him with two fractures to his left jaw among other injuries. Williams was 19 years old at the time.
In addition to charging Three 6 Mafia with inciting the crowd, Williams charges the club was negligent by letting the group perform the song "Let's Start A Riot" and for letting him into the club even though he was not legally old enough.
A trial date for the incident which actually took place back on Aug. 26, 2003 has not been set but Williams' lawyer, James E. DePasquale, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that he expects Three 6 Mafia to answer subpoenas by the end of April to be deposed for trial, which could begin by November.
DePasquale also named the alleged Three 6 Mafia members who attacked Williams telling the Pittsburgh Gazette that the attackers were Robert "Koopsta Knicca" Cooper and Darnell "Crunchy Black" Carlton.
Three Six Mafia has contracted Pittsburgh attorney John E. Hall who declined to discuss pending litigation, but has said the group members deny all the accusations. Both Koopsta Knicca and Crunchy Black are named as defendants in the case.
This all comes at a time when Three 6 Mafia (along with Hypnotize Minds member Cedric "Frayser Boy" Coleman) recently won the best original song Oscar for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" featuring songstress and actress Taraji Henson from the film "Hustle & Flow" and made history becoming the first live rap performance at the Academy Awards show.
Three 6 Mafia currently consists of group members Jordan "Juicy J" Houston, Paul "D.J. Paul" Beauregard and Darnell "Crunchy Black" Carlton.
