BACKGROUND: Verizon's Multicultural Marketing Group launched "realize," a grassroots marketing campaign in Washington and Philadelphia, featuring entrepreneurs who use Verizon broadband service to realize their dreams. The people in the campaign are from actual neighborhoods where the advertising appears, and have launched their businesses or strengthened their communities with the help of Verizon's broadband services. "Realize" is rooted in insights gained from market research indicating that African-Americans are most likely to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, even while holding full-time jobs.
